METHYL B12 PLUS is a supplement supplying 1,000 mcg of vitamin B12 in the most bioavailable form of methylcobalamin and 25 mg of niacin in every capsule. It constitutes multifaceted support for the organism’s health, especially in terms of methylation improvement and the metabolic benefits that can be obtained from it.

Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is one of the main coenzymes in two reactions of methylation in the organism: the conversion of homocysteine into methionine, and of methylmalonyl-CoA into succinyl-CoA.

Methylation is a process that allows the digestion and absorption of most nutrients and vitamins. It can be distorted as a result of consuming anti-nutritional factors present in food, the lack of vitamins of the B complex, and the mutation of the gene MTHFR. It is estimated that nearly half of the population of Europe struggle with the problems. Vitamin B12 supplementation is one of the best confirmed methods of improving methylation.

Importantly, cobalamin itself also requires a methyl group in order to be assimilable for the organism. That is why supplementation with more common forms in people with methylation disorders is ineffective. In this supplement, methylation is provided at the production stage, thanks to which it is highly assimilable and effective.

Vitamin B12 also plays a major role in a number of crucial functions in the organism. It regulates erythropoiesis (red blood cell pathway), and its deficiency leads to the development of dysfunctional erythrocytes in the form of macrocytes, and to the so-called vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia. Moreover, cobalamin is an essential enzyme for the synthesis of nucleic acids, which form DNA strands. It also forms all structural elements of chromosomes, that way allowing the efficient replication of the genome, the cellular process that takes place constantly in all tissues of the organism.

Vitamin B12 supplementation can also affect the functioning of the brain as well as the mood, as it is able to regulate the synthesis of serotonin, a major neurotransmitter that determines the basic needs of the organism, like sleep, appetite, or sex drive. Cobalamin is also present in the synthesis of choline, a precursor for the most prevalent neurotransmitter in the organism, acetylcholine.

Niacin, also called vitamin B3, is a substance whose functionality in the organism is connected mainly with the coenzymes that need it as a substrate to be synthesised: NAD+ and NADP+. They constitute electron carriers in redox reactions that happen constantly in all cells in the organism.

Because of that, the right niacin supply ensures that metabolism in all tissues functions properly, particularly in those whose main source of energy are carbohydrates, the most important being the brain. Vitamin B3 is also used for treating lipid profile disorders.

Moreover, niacin plays a major neuroprotective role, which is why it is often used in preventing nervous system disorders, such as amnesia or Parkinson’s disease. Using vitamin B3 is also more and more common in treating mental dysfunctions, like depression or addictions.
